Rockford, IL – Today, Judge Joe McGraw, candidate for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (IFOP). The IFOP is the second largest of its kind in the entire country representing more than 33,000 active duty and retired police officers in Illinois.
“We’re proud to endorse Judge Joe McGraw for Congress in Illinois’ 17th Congressional District. Judge Joe has spent his entire life defending the rule of law and championing law enforcement as a prosecutor, private attorney, and judge. Our officers know, from the moment they put on their badge to the moment they return safely home to their loved ones, that Judge Joe has their backs. We look forward to partnering with him in our mission to keep Illinois families safe,” said Illinois Fraternal Order of Police President Chris Southwood.
Judge Joe McGraw issued the following statement in response to the endorsement:
“My goal is simple – make certain that IL-17 is the best place in Illinois to live, work, and raise a family. For that to happen, there has to be law and order. Right now though, Illinois families are faced with the threat of lawlessness as a result of soft-on-crime politicians, the elimination of cash bail, an open border flooding our streets with drugs, and liberal state’s attorneys who refuse to enforce the law. As a former prosecutor and judge, I know these disastrous policies empower criminals and create more victims. In Congress, I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement, increase funding for police, and fight tirelessly to ensure violent criminals are behind bars.”
In addition to the endorsement of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police, Judge Joe also has the endorsement of more than two dozen law enforcement officials from across the 17th Congressional District.
